Why Chris and I aren’t getting married until after I graduate I am going to throw a fit. Yes, we love each other. Yes, we do want to be married. Yes, we hate being far away from each other. But also.. Yes, I have a life and school and he has work, we can wait. Neither of us NEED to change anything at the moment. We can deal with the distance and this deployment and the next one as an engaged couple. We don’t need to be married to know that we are going to make it last. I have stuff I want to do before I get married, I want to finish school, I want to continue with the same job I have until I graduate. Besides, getting married will diminish my scholarship funds and that would just be stupid because school is already paid for. We aren’t going to be the supposed stereotypical “military couple” that everyone thinks all military couples are. Not every military relationship goes like that and stop asking me why we aren’t that way. We love each other. We don’t need to be married and living together to prove that. It can wait until we are ready and can have a nice planned out wedding away from the Marine Corps and college stresses. Who cares if it’s going to be a 2.5 year engagement? It’s our engagement. Not yours. 

So apparently today Chris was in the PX in Japan where he has been for like 5 days and stopped somewhere to sit down and eat his lunch. And this guy a couple tables over goes “Corporal Phillipp?” And Chris goes… “Yeah? Do I know you.” And the guy goes “You’re engaged to Michelle, right?” And he was like “Yeah, who are you?” And he introduces himself and he’s a kid that was in my youth group in high school 4 years ago that I haven’t’ seen since, but I still sometimes keep up with on Facebook. So, so strange.  

So Chris left for his deployment this week, his brother comes back from Afghanistan at some point within the next couple months. And their other brother is just kinda chillin stationed in Fallon. No future deployments for him…I don’t think.  What a crazy time of the year for this family though. I’m glad Michael is coming home. Their mom needs some sort of break. 

I was picking up bestie from the airport tonight and while waiting at a crosswalk I saw a man in uniform and his two children walking hand in hand across the street to get into the airport and both little boys were crying and it just made me really sad. ): 

Go Diego Go had 2 weeks of leave and I finally go to see him today before he goes back to Hawaii (He should just take me back with him!) It was super nice to be able to hang out and have lunch with him. It had been two years. Now he’s back to Hawaii for who knows how long. Hmph. Why do all of my friends have to be in the military?? 

So going to Pendleton next Thursday cause he had a 96 Fri-Mon. They just changed the 96 to Sat-Tues. Now I get to spend a day in the hotel by myself and miss a day to spend with him. This is ridiculous. I know I am lucky that I get to see him, but it’s just frustrating sometimes. Sad girl. ):

I need a dress for the Marine Corps Ball. It shouldn’t be this difficult. /:
